The Marina is a valuable benefit of home ownership in Oakshore Park. To ensure that all homeowners receive equitable treatment, we must follow the simple guidelines which have been in effect for over 20 years. This year we have invested in all new aluminum docks and the design of the boat slips is different from our previous system. Guidelines have been modified to include new rules for slip owners. The OSP Dock Assignments for 2005 are shown on the reverse side of this page.

  1. The OSP Marina is jointly owned by all members of the Oakshore Park Homeowners Association (OPHA) and is for their exclusive use.
  2. OPHA members may bring guests to the Marina, provided that the guests are accompanied by an Association member while using the Marina. Children of OSP can use the Marina without a member present.
  3. Guests of OPHA may not be given an open invitation to use the Marina on an ongoing, unaccompanied basis. Association by-laws and insurance implications reinforce this requirement.
  4. Guests' boats may be launched at the Marina subject to the homeowner's presence. All slips are owned and assigned. The outside of the 3 end slips are available for temporary use and are owned by OPHA. An unused homeowner's slip may be temporarily used with permission from the homeowner. Unrecognized guests should be advised that they may be requested to identify themselves. OPHA members have the right to politely request identification of unrecognized users. Abuses should be reported to the Marina Committee or President of the OPHA.
  5. Non-members of OPHA may not be given permission to keep their boats at the Marina. All boats kept at the Marina must be owned by and registered in the names of OPHA members.
  6. Please keep the launching ramp and drive clear, except for the time required to launch. Parking is encouraged on the paved parking area adjacent to Ethan Avenue.
  7. Please use the "Golden Rule" when using the Marina: Respect the rights of other OPHA member who have a right to use the Marina. Please avoid trespassing on the property of the adjacent homeowners.
  8. Please leave the Marina and Picnic area cleaner than you found it. The Marina is truly an asset to us as homeowners and should be given the highest respect when being used. Overnight camping is prohibited in the Marina without the expressed permission of the Marina Committee and the Association Board.
  9. The new dock system allows for adequate room for two boats to occupy one of the double wide slips. It is important that you secure your boat to your dock in such a manner that it will not come loose or extend over and make contact with your neighbor's boat. You also need to use a method of securing your boat to allow enough clearance for your neighbor to enter and exit the slip with a minimum of 3 foot clearance between the boats when they are up against the dock. Any issues between adjacent slip owners need to be resolved by them.
  10. When homeowners move, their dock/slip should be sold to the purchasers of their home, or to other OPHA members who do not own a slip. The Marina Committee will assist if requested. Dock/slips cannot be sold to non-OPHA members. Ownership of docks/slips is limited to one per Oakshore Park homeowner. If you require an additional slip you can work with another slip owner to "sublet" their slip.
  11. All slip owners must be available to help at "docks-in" and "docks-out" work days. There is always area clean up help needed for those who cannot physically lift and install the docks.
